StringWerkz comprises of 4 huqin players and a cellist (Wong Qin Kai – Gaohu; Shunta Goh and Chia Wan Hua – Erhu; Rozie Hoong – Zhonghu; Eunice Koh Kai’En – Cello) who are graduates from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. Most of them friends from their time in Toa Payoh Community Club Chinese Orchestra, they have won awards in the biennial National Chinese Music Competition (NCMC) ensemble categories since 2002. All 4 huqin players have also won prizes in the Erhu solo categories of the national competition. In 2014, StringWerkz took part in the NCMC ensemble open category as a quartet and won the 2nd prize. In 2013, the group participated in the 3rd Terem Crossover International Music Competition (St. Petersburg, Russia) and emerged as the only Asian finalist, winning the DIPLOMA "For achievements in the field of a live sound" and the DIPLOMA "For original arrangement".


Under the music instruction of renowned Erhu master Mr Zhang Yu Ming and NAFA Head of Chinese Music Mr Sunny Wong Sun Tat, StringWerkz has developed its unique sound which showcases the distinct sound colours of the various string instruments while preserving the idea of harmony and blending of a western string quartet.
